5.0 out of 5 stars A good read, 9 Feb 2003
By Jerry Butcher (London, England) - See all my reviews
This book covers a lot of the lesser known tracks around London including Dagenham, Barnet and Smallford as well as some better known tracks such as Eastbourne, Rye House and Canterbury. The book brings out the relationship between many of these smaller training tracks and the big time tracks in London, acting as their nurseries and so on, as well as detailing the highs and lows of their league careers. It is a good read and has some good illustrations. Well worth buying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Follow-Up, 3 Feb 2003
By Brian Lawson (London, England) - See all my reviews
Speedway in the South East is a great follow up to Norman Jacobs' other two Tempus speedway books. This one covers a lot of lesser known tracks such as Barnet and Smallford, but also details the histories of tracks such as Rye House, Eastbourne, Canterbury and Crayford. I found the chapter on High Beech particularly fascinating as, after all, this is the home of British speedway and yet not much is known about it...up until now that is! Some really first class photographs too, dating back to 1928. I would certainly recommend that this book should find its way on to the shelf of every speedway supporter in the country
