Amazon.co.uk Review

Sticking to the successful formula established by Big Brother: The Unseen Story, Big Brother 2 pursues the 2001 vintage on their mission to out-popularise each other for the nation's enjoyment. For a second summer in a row, Channel 4 served up a nightly diet of flirtation, intrigue and kitchen sink crisis to satisfy the public's insatiable appetite for voyeuristic thrills. Aside from the fact that Big Brother ushered in a genuinely new concept in TV entertainment, broke countless taboos and raised many serious issues among the frippery, its major success continues to be its ability to coax engrossing and coherent television out of a bunch of misfits with no experience of live performance. Once again, what really captured the imagination was the interaction of the characters and their shifting tensions and allegiances over the weeks cooped up in east London. There was nothing to rival the drama of Nasty Nick's kangaroo court this time around, but the introduction of Josh two weeks in provided a neat twist, dispelling the lazy comfort of a house gradually settling into its routine. All the events and fireworks are accounted for here, with insights from the inmates on every minutiae of house life from Josh's appearance to the Helen-and-Paul saga. Big Brother 2 charts the entire series taking us inside the minds of the participants and revealing the dynamics behind their sexual and power struggles. In a welcome addition, housemates from the original BB contribute their own thoughts and reminiscences. With exclusive access to the diaries of the contestants, it's your turn to play Big Brother. --Gala Brand

5.0 out of 5 stars Bubble - hold me!, 25 Aug 2001
By A Customer
5 stars is only a suitable rating if you are a raving 'Big Brov' addict (like myself!)... This book will give you further insight into golden moments, such as Josh's arrival, the chaos of Brian's birthday, Bubble's shock eviction, Helen and Pauls desperate romance and that crazy finale.

The book contains must-read interviews with the housemates, where they get to voice their oppinions of eachother (Narinder's is a cracker!). The book also lets you in on many a 'Big Brov' secret - for example, did you know that Bubble plotted to scale the garden wall? Did you know Brian cried after Josh's eviction? Did you know Dean was raised as a Jehovah's witness?! Uncover all these gems and more...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Bubble Will Never Burst!!, 8 Sep 2001
By claire.bateman@cableinet.co.uk (Wolverhampton!!, West Midlands) - See all my reviews
When Big Brother 2 was unveiled I did not think that I would get so enthrauled in the concept. I never saw the first installment and likewise did not think about watching this years. Boy was I wrong!!!! I am so glad that I watched it day in day out. So when the programme finally ended what was I to do. Yes! buy the book that went with the show. When it arrived on my doorstep on the Saturday morning, it was completely finished Sunday night. With colour photos of, pre, post and during BB, and also psycologist reports that were shown on the television. This book is a real companion for all those avid viewers who may be suffering from those post BB blues and also those who never watched the show, as it gives a week by week rundown of what was said and done. It also gives next years possible contestants an idea of what to expect.
