Amazon.co.uk Review
As a complement to the
Channel Four Racing Guide to Racehorses, this guide to racecourses aims to provide the newcomer to the world of horse racing with all the knowledge required to become well acquainted with both the flat racing and National Hunt circuit. The bulk of the guide is devoted to a directory of the racecourses of Great Britain. Details of the location of each course are given, along with information on the different circuits used at each track, and vital intelligence for the average punter, such as the effect of the draw for lanes at certain courses. From Newmarket to Newton Abbot, this book gives you the low-down. As such it forms an essential guide for those wanting to sample to atmosphere of the racing game at first hand. Derek Thompson also gives the reader the benefit of his experience of some of the choicer courses outside the UK, in locations as exotic as California and Dubai. While those new to racing may not make enough from their winnings to get that far afield straight away, there's certainly enough information here to get you on your way, whether your local track is Aintree or Ayr. --
