Product Description

Product Description
No lavatory is complete without a Profanisaurus! After all, what else could you read whilst you're sitting on the 'chod bin' trying not to 'breach the hull' or commit a 'Wee-Harvey Oswald'? Don't know the difference between 'stabbing the cat' and 'feeding the ducks'? Don't know when to take a 'monkey's fag break? You need Roger's Profanisaurus - the ultimate in schoolboy humour (that is definitely not for children). Roger Mellie presents this updated dictionary of swearing that gives a hilarious new angle to many previously innocently-used words. New vastly expanded edition. Completely revised and updated. An entertaining glossary of vulgarity, expletives, colourful obscenity and downright filth; Ideal for use in the home and office

5.0 out of 5 stars Dr Johnson's Lost Volume, 2 Jan 2003
If Oxford and Penguin are to be believed the English Language is devoid of vulgarity and lewdness. The Profanisaurus decisively disproves this by showing us how the English Language is well suited for making light of what would be rather dull activities such as defecating and copulating.
The cornerstone of Englishness is our sense of humour, and at the heart of this is 'toilet humour' - a fine institution indeed. Therefore we need to be in touch with a vast compendium such as this to remain truly English.

Aside from it's importance at a literary and national level, it's bloomin' funny and had me literally rolling on the floor crying with laughter.

Well worth the cash (even though mine was a present), buy one today and begin your research into the depths of vulgarity - Woo Hoo!

4.0 out of 5 stars Profoundly Profane, 17 Oct 2002
By J Chapman (Sheffield, UK) - See all my reviews
Not for the timid or easily offended, Roger Mellie's swearing dictionary, Roger's Profanisaurus is more than 200 pages of the most imaginative filth ever put on paper. Only the most po-faced could fail to laugh as they cross reference one disgusting phrase with another, none of which are suitable to be recorded here.
Read, enjoy and then put to good use in general conversation

To be kept alongside the Shorter Oxford on my reference shelf. A marvellous (and disturbingly compendious) insight into the underside of the English language, and a book that even as an experienced user of obscenity I found myself boggling at the sheer creativity of some of the entries on occasion.

Don't read it in public. You will be looked at. It WILL cause you to laugh out loud, uproariously.

Filthy, disgusting, horrid, vile, obscene - yes.
Brilliant? Yes.

You know you need it.
