2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 10 Aug 2006
This review is from: Sunstroke (Hardcover)
As an avid Jonathan Kellerman fan, I had high expectations that Jesse had inherited some of his dad's writing skills. This book was a real let down for me. It started of at a reasonable pace but quickly let me down. It's drawn out with little real excitement along the way. The characters dont come to life and are decidedly uninteresting. Not one I could recommend.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sunstroke, 18 Sep 2007
By Jean "Jean" (London, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sunstroke (Hardcover)
This is one of the worst books I have ever ploughed through. I read whatever i find by both Jonathan and Faye Kellerman, and had high expectations after reading a review of this book. I felt really let down. The plot meandered, and the author seemed to relish using some words to the detriment of the desired image. All in all I thought the plot was poor and the writing in need of a great deal of improvement. I won't read another one by him!

2.0 out of 5 stars Keep Practising Jesse, 9 Jul 2007
By Mary D (London, UK) - See all my reviews
Children of the famous always complain how hard it is to be accepted when they attempt the same career path as their parents. This novel is a great example of a book that would possibly not have been published at all - at least not in its current form - if it wasn't for his famous name. While it's clear that Kellerman junior can write and has some sharp observations to make, reading this book is a bit like ploughing through treacle. I just wished that someone had the courage to tell him to cut out a hundred pages - mostly the neverending stilted conversations that went nowhere - and to get a far firmer grip on his plotting. By the last quarter of the book I really didn't care who was who and who did what to whom - or why - but I carried on in the hope of a final reprieve. There was none. Self indulgent, dull and ultimately totally unbelievable.

The paperback at 436 pages is certainly 200 pages too long. Jesse relishes charcater development so much that it just loses the reader (me, at any rate)with frequent historic... Read more
