Review

'A gripping and beautifully constructed story' - Elizabeth Buchan

Product Description

When Frankie, mid-forties, sees in a passing train the unforgettable face of her long-lost love, she turns straight round and goes after him. For she, more than anyone, knows he is dead; was there when it happened, attended the inquest and later served a prison sentence for his manslaughter. Frankie, Cristina, Cassandra, Jenny and Pippa...five women living quite separate lives except for one crucial fact. Cristina, the spoilt Brazilian ex-model; Cassie, the dignified lady of class; Jenny, who runs a fashionable eatery while raising a child on her own and Pippa, the much younger mistress, now pregnant with his twins. Each of them has devoted her life to the same duplicitous man. Antwerp, Paris, Venice, Rio, Bath...their lives are very widespread. But when the circles begin to intersect, the only possible ending is murder.

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining Read., 15 Feb 2007
This book is a good old yarn however I felt towards the end of the book the storyline was abit over the top and sometimes it was hard to follow which character you were reading about when starting a new chapter because it jumped from one era and one character to another. The concidences at the end are also abit unbelievable but if you want a light holiday read and have a vivid imagination then this is the book for you.

2.0 out of 5 stars Never really gets going, 24 Jul 2009

(REAL NAME)
If I hadn't read the blurb on the back of the book I wouldn't have known what it was about until the end. It tells the story of the lives of five women who all have relationships with one man but this only becomes apparent very late on in their stories. We keep switching between the characters and different times without any sense of where the story is heading.

I read in hope that something would happen and that the storylines would come together but this was not the case until nearly the end of the book.

I enjoyed some of the characters and the descriptions of their different ways of life, so I gave it two stars. I shall now give it back to the charity shop where I bought it.
