Product Description

Kirsty is everything Sam ever wanted in a woman - gorgeous, funny, bright, brilliant company. But when he asks her to marry him, he doesn't reckon on her response. The Catch. For Kirsty to accept him, he's going to have to prove he's marital material. Over the next twelve weeks, she's going to give his behaviour points (though not explain how he scores them). If his total hits 1,000, then she'll be his bride. But however much Sam does the ironing or puts the toilet seat down, his tally resembles the United Kingdom's in the Eurovision Song Contest. Where's he going wrong? Assembling a sex war Cabinet of best mates George and Pete, Sam is no closer to an answer ...until the addition of work colleague Amanda opens his eyes to the surprising truth about what really winds women up...

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY FUNNY, 5 Oct 2004
By T. Gillingwater (Derbyshire) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I brought this book based on it's reviews. I took it on holiday with me for a good light hearted funny read. I wasn't disapointed and it was even better than I expected. At points it made me laugh out loud and other bits warmed my heart. Well written not the usual chick lit I often read on holiday, but an insight to relationships and men and women and how different they think and sometimes they just don't comunicate.

I've already passed this on to several people who have all enjoyed it. I shall definately be reading his first book I hope it lives up to this one.

Don't hesitate BUY IT !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Catch - Mark Mason, 16 Feb 2004
By Nicky Beards nee Copping (Matlock, Derbyshire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
Every now and then, and not often, a book comes along that I simply can't put down. 'The Catch' by Mark Mason is just such a book. Even more rarely, does a book make me laugh out loud, which can be embarrassing in public! Again, Mason hits the spot.

The plot has a wonderful premise and I won't spoil it for people by revealing it. Suffice it to say that 'The Catch' is all about relationships, how they work and why. It is a book to be enjoyed, nay, devoured by both men and women alike, for quite different reasons. Men will side with the central character, Sam, and women will smile at his thoughts and deeds, and perhaps fall in love with the idea of who Sam is! It's also more than likely that men the length and breadth of the English-speaking world will soon be 'on points'!
The plot gripped me from the word go, and Mark Mason's style of writing is natural and witty. A well-constructed and inventive novel that tackles the issue of 'the things we do for love'.
I can't wait to get hold of Mason's first novel, 'What Men Think About Sex', and look forward to his next novel. It sure beats 'The Wreck of the Deutschland' by Gerard Manley Hopkins, eh Mark!!??

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely funny...for a man., 15 Jul 2004
By Fran "Tastic" (Midlands, UK) - See all my reviews
This book was funny from start to finish, I didn't know what to expect when I first picked it up, but was pleasantly entertained throughout. He has a lot of insight into how stupid women can be and it taught me a lot about why my husband behaves in certain ways, regardless of how imbecilic. Excellent read.
