Product Description

Review
A vivid and gripping picture - Sunday Times Extremely moving - Manchester Evening News What is astonishing about the book...is the account of how downtrodden, defeated Miriam suddenyl came to buoyand life - Mail on Sunday

Product Description
Providing an account of her battle with an abusive man and with bureaucracy, this is the story of a woman's fight against a violent and tyrannical relationship, and her struggle to reclaim her two daughters, sold into marriage in the Yemen. Mirian Kamouhi - half Pakistani, half English - met Muthana Muhsen in Birmingham in 1960, when she was 17. They never married, but had seven children, the two eldest of whom were sent to Yemen in 1966 for a holiday . Their mother, fighting ill-health and with little money, would not meet them again until they were adults.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thorough Account, 4 Jul 2006
By M. Mukhtar "Moazma" (UK, Manchester) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
It was good as this book fits in with the book SOLD by Zana Muhsen like hand fits in glove. This was infact a more detailed version to SOLD and is most definetly recommended.

THe mothers' emotions and feelings and the lead to her mental illness caused by the loss of her two daughters was well scripted. We got to learn about a mothers' side of the story. It is definetly a different angle to the story and is worth reading.

It covers the aspects or questions zana was asking while stuck in the Yemen. Together the two books compliment each other perfectly. It covers the subject and the terrible life a mother was living when the girls were taken away. I recommend this book to all of you who have read SOLD, as this covers all the questions you will ask yourself when reading sold or who are eager to learn more on this story. It also cover aspects of Zana second book.

Fantaastic Read

5.0 out of 5 stars A story of two sisters sold into slavery, 16 April 2001
This book is a heart renching story about two sisters who were bought up in Birmingham England and were sold into slavery by their wretched father. The story unfolds and speaks of how poorly treated these sisters Nadia and Zana were treated. Zana and Nadia were sold into slavery at a very young age and was tricked by their evil father into believeing they were going on holiday. Reading this book is definitly a good story to read but a painful one. The stories ''SOLD'' and ''Without Mercy'' combined together are the true stories of the sisters. However sadened you may feel reading these stories it enlightens one to how people are treated in the Middle East. How poor young innocent girls like Zana and Nadia are treated by men and are under men's authority in a contry such as Yemen. This book is definitly worth buying. The greatest story that was ever told.

5.0 out of 5 stars I wish i was like her!, 4 Feb 2002
Without Mercy is an emotional tale of a mother's love for her children. I have so much admiration for Miriam, to have the strength and courage to fight and bring at least one of her daughters home given the circumstances she found herself in is just a miracle. I certainly wish i was as strong as her.

After reading the novel, i reflected on the life i lead, my troubles seem a mere blip compared to that of Miriam...
