Jim Davidson was brought up in south-east London, the youngest of five children of a father whose lifelong drink problem led to violent outbursts in the family home. Jim's big break as a comic came in 1976, when he won the "New Faces" television talent contest. Every year since then, he has starred in a top-rating, prime-time television series, and he is one of the UK's ten highest-paid television performers. While success is his trademark on screen, Davidson's private life has been nothing less than stormy, with a succession of marriages, and drinking binges which have led him into reckless, often violent situations. This is his autobiography.

My mother bought this book as she took the title a little too literally. She was expecting to see Jim in the nude. Once she got over this initial disappointment, she passed it on to me, knowing that my sense of humour, like her mind, is rather dirty. I was so glad that she gave it to me. Jim is known as a cad. He has had much fun with his many women and speeding tickets. He is actually my idol and I hope that one day, I can also be rich enough to attract so many beautiful women. Peter Stringfellow is a similar personality, and he also has a fantastic biography out at the moment. Jim is such a tonic to 'our boys' in the services. He is the British Bob Hope. The only other comedian I know who is as caring is Bobby Monkhouse, who also has an autobiography in print at the moment. Jim is so DIRTY! I love hearing his jokes about the opposite sex. Too many people get hung up on political correctness, but you ask any of the boys down at my local Social Club who they would rather see out of Jim Davidson and Alan Davies and you will hear a resounding chorus of JIM! JIM! JIM! Indeed, I have often quaked in my boots with fear as the chanting has begun. One day, Jim will play our club. Until then, we will make do with Jimmy Bowen, who does not appear to have a biography out at present. You must buy this book, and when you have may I recommend the biography of Angela Lansbury to you. To compare two different lifestyles in this way is remarkable. Best Of Order Please!

I was brought up on Jim Davidson. His hilarious Chalky White character had me rolling on the floor with laughter when I was only knee high to a grasshopper ! Over the years he has had more than his fair share of knocks (shame on you knockers !) but it seems like Jims undeniable, and I use this word as it is intended, genius, is finally becoming recognised.

To use a metaphor, if Jim's life had to be summed up with a type of weather, I would have to pick a storm. Any type of storm really, a snow storm or a particularly bad rain storm. He has had more stormy marriages than Elizabeth Taylor (sorry if this isn't strictly true, Jim !) and has had his driving licence taken off of him more than a messy baby with a soggy rusk biscuit.

To see how the other half live, really is a joy, especially when they are of Jims status. I believe that it is possible to focus too much on the darker moments of his life, however, 'The Full Monty' is not guilty of this. Jim seems to have found eternal happiness by the end of the last chapter.

Good luck to him, I say. A definite must for anyone with an appreciation for top rate, 'Big Break' comedy....

This book was recomended to me by Ted Beazly who is a member of my local Conservative Club. Thanks Ted!

I suppose I've always enjoyed Jim's comedy, and like Jim, my sense of humor is rather lewed! Yet as fans of TV's Generation Game (like me!), will tell you there is more to Jim than blue humour. He is equally at home as a family entertainer.

Well it's all here! The wives, the drinking, yes, the full monty! Which is why the title is so good. I think the subtitle should be "Spill the Beans" because this is what Jim does. It's not all laughs mind you. But that's what made this such a good read. I feel like I know the man, and like such people as Peter Stringfellows, Eric Halls, Noel Edmonds, Jeremy Beadles, Greg Martins - who also wrote enjoyable biographies - their self-made succsess is what makes them so admerable.

Yes, I recommend this book. But it's for adults only!
