1.0 out of 5 stars Self indulgent and unromantic - a huge disappointment, 14 April 2003
By K. Hill (London, England) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Honey Moon (Mass Market Paperback)
The story revolves around a young disadvantaged girl with a string of unworthy relatives who finds herself drawn into the acting profession. She does not deal with it well and is, quite frankly, a brat throughout the book. The men in the novel are equally flawed (but not in a traditional romance novel way - just a "get your feet off the table way"!) and the family are enough to have you chewing the table with frustration. The book culminates in Honey finding her true self by riding a rollercoaster which she has re-built at enormous expense. AWFUL.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a typical SEP novel.... much better!!, 19 Nov 2008
By C. E. Batt "Mrs 'B'" (Halstead Essex) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Honey Moon (Paperback)
I have read all SEP's books and this one has been festering on my book shelf for some time. Due to a rather nasty and painful back injury I found myself in the prone position with too many hours to waste..... or so I thought. Enter Honey Moon. From the very start the characters are so real they grip you and don't let you go. I laughed (which hurt) cried and spurred on the heroin Honey moon and when the last page was turned I felt a sadness for the loss of Honey Moons world. The book is far grittier then her later offerings and does touch on sexual abuse with minors, however it is all written in a very responsible and believeable mannor. It is hard to beleive that this has been penned by the author of the Chicago Stars books, but don't be put off by that comparison. This novel is a far fleshier, meatier offering with a lot less fluff of her later novels..... go on give it a go!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not at typical SEP book but wortha read, 27 Jan 2008
By L. Brown (England) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Honey Moon (Paperback)
I have just finished Honey Moon and would completely disagreed with the other reviewer on this site. I thought the book was well written, fast paced and the characters drew me into their world. True, Honey does spend a chunk of time being a complete brat, but the author explains why this is the case. This is the story of a young, unloved orphan who had to take on too much responsibility at a young age and the story of her life as she tries to find happiness. This is definitely worth a look.
