A goldmine of information, and good value, 14 Jun 2002

I love this book! Anyone who is interested in languages or likely to be doing travelling in a number of European countries would be wise to buy this. It only costs as much as a single language phrasebook, but contains phrases in the 14 major European languages. It's small and compact, but contains all of the information that you're likely to need. Each language has useful key phrases, time, numbers, communication, hotels, shopping, and a comprehensive section on eating out and menu translation. There is also a brief introduction with tips on pronunciation, though each phrase is written out as it sounds as well as in the correct spelling. Information is easy to find and to use. It contains most of the necessary content and is certainly cheaper and easier to carry than a whole stack of different phrase books. As well as French, German, Spanish and Italian, the book covers Greek, Dutch, the Scandinavian languages, Polish, Hungarian, Czech, and Portuguese, probably enabling you to be understood in all of Europe.
