4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely book - but no nitty gritty?, 20 Dec 2000
By A Customer
As with the entire EyeWitness range (I have the Hawaii book too) the London guide is a lovely book with super photos and illustrations. The range is a breath of fresh air compared to the traditional travel books. The book breaks down each attraction with illustrations such as big ones like the Millennium Dome to a small diagram of the layout of Downing Street. The book is broken down into different sections of London and these have a suggested walking tour to see most of the sites in that area as well as a quick list of the must see attractions for that area. At the back of the guide are illustrated sections such as "getting around" which illustrates how the different ticket machines etc. work in the underground. My final plus is this is one of those books you would want to also keep as a souvenir of your trip because of the colourful nature of it. However there is also a minus point to this book. I don't think I would ever go to a destination with just one of these books. They tend to concentrate on the major tourist attractions and maybe not some of the lesser know stuff. For this reason I also pack a Lonely Planet or Rough Guide for its nitty gritty view on the location as well.
