This revised volume is due, and appropriate, as it is one of the best of its kind. Its success lies in the strong, creative multidisciplinary team that produced it - even if the book belongs in DIY culture, as opposed to real design...Endorsed by Brookes, and featuring some of his work, the team responsible for this publication has formed a well-balanced formula for exhibiting accessible, informative and inspiring garden design information. All has been considered - history, through drawing to even how to charge your fees... However, one must remember that any design discipline, let alone garden and landscape design, is a discipline of life long learning. And although one is intoxicated with the wealth of Brookes' prowess - a well sought after designer, teacher and writer worldwide, one must bare in mind what he is promoting. If garden design was as easy as it seems when browsing this, or similar publications, there would have been no need to hire Brookes and his peers... Most of all, garden design is a multidisciplinary-based profession, not a lone spirit reading a book. To make a garden work, one has to model his efforts on the editorial team of this book - rather than its DIY agenda!!!
