Amazon.co.uk Review
Britain's favourite gardening annual, the
RHS Plant Finder 1999-2000 edition lists 70,000 plants and over 800 nurseries. This is the third edition of the
RHS Plant Finder to be produced by the Royal Horticultural Society and published by Dorling Kindersley. The editors have made a few changes. The book forms two main sections--plants and nurseries. All the information relating to the plant directory is now grouped together and separated from nurseries by a card insert. Nomenclature notes, classification of genera, collectors' references, reverse synonyms, the naming of plants and the bibliography are all found after the plant directory which precedes a card insert separating the nurseries listings. The nursery indexes have been simplified by combining the code-nursery index, additional nursery index, seed suppliers, cactus and succulent suppliers and orchid suppliers into one main listing called "nursery details by code" in which every nursery now has a unique code. A further innovation, the specialist nurseries listing, has been included to help the reader find suppliers not only of seed, cacti, succulents and orchids but of 14 other plant groups as well. Addresses, telephone numbers (and fax and e-mail addresses where appropriate), opening times, location maps and mail-order details are given for each nursery.
