This title tells the story of how Stirling and its surroundings, by a mixture of geography, history, fate and some planning, became what it is today. Illustrated with 120 pictures, which explore the familiar and unfamiliar sides of central Scotland's premier town, this history of the town also includes curious, interesting and quirky facts: the chewing gum removal machine used to clean pavements all over the UK was invented in Stirling; and the heart of the ancient town survives and helped Stirling find a new status as a top tourist desintation in the 20th century. The book should be of interest to anyone who knows and loves this part of Scotland.

About the Author

Dr Bruce Durie has an e-business consultancy and he also writes books, plays and screenplays. Bruce has written 'A Century of Glasgow' (Sutton 2000), 'Glasgow Past and Present' (Sutton 2001)
