5.0 out of 5 stars Best toilet reading in the world, 6 Dec 2008
By T. Lynch (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book is a great gift for anyone interested in history, engineering or science. It has 100 short pieces to read in any order, each bringing alive Adam Hart-Davis' joy in the most and least useful inventions and discoveries that created the modern world.

It's real quality lies in toilet reading - each story just the right length to pick up when there's 5 minutes about to go to waste :-)

4.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant anthology for anyone who is a "local heroes" fan, 26 Nov 2000
By A Customer
This is a great book for anyone who enjoyed the tv programme or who wishes to know more about the diversity of British genius. Put another way, perhaps you love the wacky inventors of this country and could enjoy reading about their weird and wonderful ideas. Dip in and try it.
