Product Description
Completely revised to align with ISO 9000:2000, this handbook remains the most comprehensive book available on this series of international standards. ISO 9000 Quality Systems Handbook is an essential guide to enable organizations to understand and apply ISO 9001:2000 requirements and the principles that underpin this radical revision of the family of standards. Unlike other books on the subject, each element, clause and requirement is analysed in detail with practical guidance provided for its implementation. The handbook is written for those managing existing quality systems as well as those establishing a quality system for the first time. It is written in an easy-to-follow format and style suitable for students, practitioners, discerning managers, instructors and auditors. It offers a range of solutions that are acceptable in many industries. Based on the final draft of ISO 9001:2000, it details the differences from the 1994 version and includes check lists, questionnaires, tips for implementers, process flow charts and a glossary of terms.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gives you a complete understanding of the new requirements, 28 Dec 2001
I was first introduced to David Hoyle back in 1994 with his first ISO 9000 Quality System Handbook, I found the book so well written that I had no problem understanding what was required to implement a Quality Management System that would give results. Yes, when the third edition came out in 1998, I obtained a copy, and I was not disappointed, the third edition explained the new requirement in a language I could understand.

Then in 1999 it all changed again with the new version of ISO 9000:2000. The 20 elements having been swept aside, to be replaced with 5 sections. We have moved from the procedure to the process approach to quality management.

In October 2000 David Hoyal released his fourth edition of ISO 9000 Quality System Handbook. The book details the 5 sections so well that you cannot but understand what is required of the new standard. Within each clause of each section there is a an explanation of what it means, why it is necessary and how it is implemented. Each section ends with a summary, Questionnaire and a food for thought page.

Anybody who is serious about implementing ISO 9000:2000 should have a copy at hand, I have only had mine since October and is already well thumped. A must, for all quality professionals.

5.0 out of 5 stars That's where the pearls lie, 2 Oct 2005
I bought this great book which is delivered by a great quality management professional in August 2002 and since then, it has never left my office. As a quality management practitioner I have found this book to be very useful and very informative. It is more than ISO 9000 whereas its first 2 chapters are about the principles of quality management that each and every quality practitioner should be aware of to gain consolidated understanding of the concepts underlying the ISO 9001 requirements to ensure correct implementation and application in real life cases.
Each and every clause of the international standard is explained via answers to 3 questions "what does this mean? Why is this necessary? and how is this implemented?" and in the answers to the last question Mr. David Hoyle kept his precious pearls which he gained from his clearly wide experience.
If you are serious about understanding ISO 9001 and want to implement it correctly to gain real business benefits from it THIS IS A MUST for you. I highly recommend this book as well as all of David Hoyle and John Thompson's products which can be found in their own website "www.transition-support.com".
Believe me they will never disappoint you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compehensive, well written and easy to understand, 1 April 2005
By Jane M. Birkenstock (Campbell, CA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The ISO 9000 Quality Systems Handbook (Nov. 15, 2001) is an in-depth presentation of the requirements of the ISO 9001:2000 standard. I purchased (and read) five other books that offered an interpretation of the standard, and all were brief and incomplete by comparison.
"What on earth do they mean by that?" is the most common statement that people make when working with the ISO standard. This book presents each requirement in the standard and then tells, 1.) What it means, 2.) Why it is necessary, and 3.) How it is implemented. The explanation is complete and easily understood by anyone. A product like this is what is needed to understand what to do, and how to go about doing it when working with the ISO 9001:2000 standard. Companies transitioning to the new standard are assisted with a comparison of requirements to the prior standard.
This book was recommended to me by an ISO 9000 registrar auditor who stated that it is being used as part of the training for their own auditors. I am a writer of ISO 9001 auditor training materials. To prepare my own product, I found it necessary to read what was available in the marketplace that explained the requirements of the ISO 9001:2000 standard. I believe that this is the most comprehensive and best product available. I highly suggest this book to anyone who will be working with the ISO 9001:2000 standard.
