Product Description

Review
"This third edition of a popular and easily read text continues in the high standards of the earlier versions. ...there are some changes which make it easier for readers to make the most of the information contained. [...] The layout of the book is improved ...with wide margins to allow readers to make their own comments/annotation, an increased number of figures, tables and illustrations, and the inclusion of boxes of information. The illustrations, which are all monochrome, are well labelled, clear to follow and appropriately titled. Each adds to the text and aids readers understanding. [...] Electrotherapy Explained remains a key textbook for the teaching of electrotherapy to undergraduates, and many clinical departments will find a copy a useful addition to their library."Physiotherapy, February 2001

Product Description
This text is new for the third edition. It is totally redesigned into a new format with helpful tips and key sections of the text highlighted for revision or quick reference. Updated and revised with the very latest information, it is available to reflect all the advances in the field. It builds upon basic principles to show the similarities and contrasts between different modalities. It contains many recent references and features a thorough evidence based approach. Unlike texts with many different authors, this book has consistent, clear explanations to ensure a thorough understanding. New diagrams are included to further enhance the text. The practical approach guides you to make the correct decisions. Even better than before, "Electrotherapy Explained: Principles and Practice" is an essential purchase for all physiotherapy students and practitioners alike. Also in the series are: "Physiotherapy Practice Explained" (Edited by John Low and Ann Reed); "Physical Principles Explained"; "Basic Biomechanics Explained"; and "Human Movement Explained".

5.0 out of 5 stars Logical, ordered, well written theory behind ET modalities., 3 April 2002
By A Customer
Easy to read, ordered and logical, an excellent companion to the physiotherapy student throughout the electrotherapy modules and into their careers.

Low and Reed write in a user friendly manner with well structured chapters that are further broken down into clear and simple summaries of the main points discussed. (Helpful with revision and essay writing!).

Physiological effects, therapeutic uses, health and safety, contraindications and applications are presented along with a sound theoretical background to each modality.

Heat and cold application, SWD, Ultrasound, Infrared, Tens, Laser therapy and UV are just some of the modalities covered.

A majority of students in my intake bought this book and will be recommending it for the "essential reading" list next year.

5.0 out of 5 stars The first book of this kind that makes sense, 22 Mar 2002
This book has a clear, easily understood and succinct text, with good diagrams to assist the reader. I have found this book to be the best for any Sports Therapy or Physiotherapy work and is great for those wishing more information on Ultrasound work.
