Review
'H.E. Bates for the 21st Century' (Katie Fforde) 'sexy...unputdownable...a heart-thumping read' (Company) 'feisty tale of friendship and laughter, loyalty and love...engaging' (The Times) 'must read...fun-packed tale' (The Sun) 'Bloody good read...Funny, romantic book...a lively romp through rural England' (New Woman)

Product Description
When city-girl Amber arrives to spend the summer in a small village, the only stars she recognises are the ones she reads about in her glossy celeb magazines. So she is stunned to find herself surrounded by a new neighbours who organise their entire lives around constellation customs and the astral calendar. More scarily, Amber finds that the villagers actually believe that the stars and moon can work magic. Amber remains loudly sceptical, but as she's grown very fond of her new friends - especially the gorgeously enigmatic Lewis - and assuming that it's all a bit of harmless fun, she hurls herself into the star-ceremonies and moon-myths on the grounds that if you can't beat 'em, join 'em and any excuse for a party. But when, as result of one of Amber's half-hearted celestial incantations, something totally inexplicable happens, she begins to wonder if maybe, just maybe, there's more to magic than meets the eye...

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!!, 21 Aug 2005
By M. Wheeler (Scotland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Seeing Stars (Hardcover)
This book is now retitled 'SEEING STARS' not the previously released, Fiddlesticks. (see forthcoming paperback page on Amazon uk). A truly fantastic read, a joy from beginning to end and, in my opinion, rivals the best from Christina Jones. A cast of wonderful characters, including some of the delicious eccentrics we have come to love and expect and which are so beautifully drawn and observed. I laughed and I cried - often at the same time!!!! It is also a deeply moving book, very romantic, and with a depth to it which was an added bonus. Marvellous in every respect with both younger and older characters and something for everyone. A classic Christina Jones novel and a must for anyone. The story links to the previous novel 'HUBBLE BUBBLE', with some of the familiar characters returning, but the book stands alone with its own central characters. There are two main storylines, one with Amber, a young city woman who moves to the village of Fiddlesticks and finds it something of an alien world!!! But she is soon drawn in to the magic of the village and the celestial celebrations the locals enjoy. She is also drawn to the gorgeous but enigmatic and mysterious Lewis. The other main storyline relates to Zilah, a woman in her fifties, whose past gradually unfolds as the book goes on. I can't say any more because it will spoil it for anyone who has not yet read the book! All I can say is read and enjoy, you will not be disappointed with this latest, brilliantly wonderful offering from Christina Jones. I cannot wait for the third in this connected series. First class, a definite winner that deserves to be a huge success. Buy it for all your friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unputdownable, 12 Sep 2007
Every Christina Jones book I've read has been 'unputdownable!' This one is no exception. Lovely characters providing gales of fun and laughter. With a descriptive language all of her own, CJ has become one of my most-read authors of 2007. I am trying to ration myself but I've become so addicted to her stories and unusual characters that I worry about the day when I've read the last one. Please God, don't let Miss Jones suffer writer's block!

I thought this was great, a good follow-on to 'Hubble Bubble'. Could really see the changes and developments of the characters and relationships. Looking forward to reading more of Christina Jones.
