Tim Relf...must be a genius.

Product Description

'I put the glass down and immediately wanted more. I had another mouthful, then another and then another. A good feeling rippied through me.' Rob Purcell drinks a lot. But it's not as if he's one of those crazy old drunks who sleep in doorways. He's got a job, a flat and, until last weekend, had a steady relationship. But his girlfriend, Emma, has had enough. She's come second to the pub once too often. The break-up hits Rob hard, but at least he can look forward to the weekend. One of his best mates is getting married, and the stag night will be a chance to get away from it all and relive his student days. Soon, Rob is drinking in earnest and making disastrous attempts to impress the unfortunate women who cross his path. But as the night wears on, old rivalries bubble to the surface as Rob becomes confused and angry, and everything starts to go wrong. Facing his friends the next day is much harder than usual, and Rob is soon dealing with more than just a hangover...

5.0 out of 5 stars NOT JUST FOR THIRTY SOMETHINGS.., 5 Aug 2004
By A Customer
Away for the weekend with no books of my own to read, I picked up my daughter's copy of STAG. The title suggests a book which might particularly be enjoyed by young males who relish nothing better than a night propping up the bar - but this is wry look at a serious problem that has consequences for all of us - even those like me who can remember the sixties! Despite the generation gap between us, my daughter and I found STAG a humorous but thought-provoking read. Can't wait for Tim Relf's next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars An emotive read, 8 Dec 2004
This excellent book isn't just one for the boys! Written with sensitivity and honest observation, it is a heart-warming tale about optimism and friendship and offers a rare glimpse into the male psyche. I would thoroughly recommend this book to both male and female readers and hope it's the first of many.
