Product Description

Product Description

Like most girls, Abby has always dreamed of her wedding day. When she was eight she imagined she'd look like a fairy princess. At thirteen it was the perfect meringue and yards of ivory tulle, at sixteen jeans and her favourite Doc Martins. The only constant in her wedding plans has been Nathan Priestly. Nathan was the school heartthrob and for Abby, the one that got away. Only now Nathan's about to get married to one of Abby's best friends and Abby is having to accept that over a decades' worth of unrequited love will remain just that. The better part of Abby is happy for them both. She's even volunteered to be their DJ at the reception, although her secret play-list consists of: 'Don't Marry Her', 'Temptation' and the complete works of Alanis Morissette. Is Abby destined to be always the DJ and never the bride...?

4.0 out of 5 stars A true love stroy, 21 May 2003
By A Customer
This book is lovely, a real true love story.

The book is well written and funny, its about a girl desperate to find love. The only problem is the person she loves is her friends husband. It does sound like a mills and boon, but believe me it's realistic and portrays her as a kind loving person.

If you love romance, music and comedy its brilliant. The ending is lovely with her finding her true love. The story takes you through all her up's and down's, making you (the reader) feel close to her, as if it was yourself.

I loved this book and i will certainly read more by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a surprise!, 20 Oct 2004
By A Customer
The cover of this book put me off for a while, it didn't sound like my kind of thing at all, but a friend of mine insisted I give it a go and I gave in for a quiet life! I was really surprised, it was much more real and touching than I had expected, much more three dimensional. It's more of a book about a woman who is stuck in a rut and her passion for music than a woman hellbent on marriage (which it absolutely isn't!) In fact the writer's passion for music could rival Nick Hornby's! I leant this to my boyfriend, who is very like the record shop owner Ed, my favourite character. He loved it as much as I did (although would never admit it in public).
Now I am intrigued, I suspect this writer is one to keep an eye on!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars She’s done it again with another great and satisfying read., 12 May 2003
By R. E. Quinn (Great Britian) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Well the twelve month wait has been well worth it as once again we’ve been given another funny and enjoyable read. This time you find yourself remembering back to those halcyon days of your school life and those feelings of unrequited love and the crush on the unattainable cool older guy who never notices you. You find yourself commiserating with Abby as she finds herself in the nightmare situation of being at his wedding to one of her best friends!

Once again the author’s quirky sense of humour and way of looking at life takes you on the journey with Abby and her friends Harriet, Ed, Vicky, Rebecca and of course the beloved Nathan. We travel with Abby as she comes to terms with letting go of that vague and faint hope that she would be his one and begins to decide what she wants from life. The twists and turns as she gets sucked into her friends relationships and has to fight her conscience as to what she should do compared to what she wants to do. The many ups and downs that life throws at her until she finally finds her way and by the end has at last found what she’s been looking for in quite unexpected places.

I can highly recommend this book. If you enjoy a well written book with great humour and understanding of the things life throws at you then you will love this one.
So if you take my advice you’ll send every one else out the house pound the throw pillows into submission and get into a comfy position to spend a couple of hours getting lost in a wonderful book that will have you having to reading just one more page before you put it down.

I wait with great anticipation for the next offering from this author to see if she can again supply us with another gem and I'm sure you will be as well.
