Review
'Rucka is a refreshingly bold talent. His hero, the tortured, courageous, and inventive Atticus Kodiak, is a great addition to thriller fiction' Dennis Lehane; 'tough and edgy' Sunday Telegraph; 'Crisply written, hard-bitten, all-action stuff' The Times

Product Description
Critical space: it's all that stands between you and death...Code-named Drama, she is a lightning-fast death machine - a hit-woman sought by intelligence agencies around the world. Drama kills as easily as she breathes...And the last time she met Atticus Kodiak, they barely escaped each other alive. Atticus has a reputation as one of the toughest bodyguards in the business, and is used to calling the shots. But all that changes when he is forced to take on Drama as a client. From New York's Russian enclaves to the Swiss Alps and the Carribean, Atticus becomes Drama's only hope for survival as she tries to outrun her bloody past. But once immersed in Drama's high-stakes, covert world, Atticus breaks a cardinal rule - he gets to know Drama as a woman rather than as a client - and it's a bond that could cost them both their lives.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fast Paced Thriller, 5 Dec 2003
By Untouchable (Sydney, NSW Australia) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
This is the 5th book in the Atticus Kodiak and once again Greg Rucka has managed to extend his characters further as they wage a thrilling fight to the death against the most deadly of assassins. Basing a series around a professional bodyguard could have led to a one-dimensional plot being repeated book after book, but this is far from the case and each book has pushed the boundaries of both interest and excitement and this one is definitely no exception.

The story starts out as business as usual for Kodiak and his partners as they go about the job of providing protection for their clients. They have been fortunate of late, guarding some high profile clients and the result has been plenty of publicity which has then generated even more business. The downside is that they have now lost the anonymity they would prefer to perform their job. Adding to their raised profile is the release of a book which roars up the best-seller lists. The book is about the events that took place in one of Rucka’s earlier book (SMOKER) when Kodiak fought off repeated attacks by an assassin known as Drama.

Kodiak receives news that Drama is on the move again, making her way towards New York City. Thinking that the release of the book has prompted Drama to strike, this news chills everyone to the core. The thought that Drama could strike at any time should she choose sets everyone on edge and provides for tension packed operations. From this point on the story becomes packed with unexpected surprises and twists that would be ruined if I attempted to describe them here. Suffice to say, I enjoyed every moment of where the story of Atticus Kodiak headed providing a fast-paced thriller that is compelling reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read, 22 Jul 2005
By A Customer
A fantastic, exciting read from start to finish. The best in the Atticus Kodiak series, for me they have been getting better and better. This is brilliantly written and you really feel the guilt that Atticus feels when he finds out he's killed a man. Superb. I hope there will be a sixth book out soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kodiak's change, 14 Aug 2003
Greg Rucka, sets your heart pounding one agian as his trouble magnet bodyguard takes a new turn in charicter.

After being hired by old friend Robert Moore (FINDER) to look after a familier, charity crusading member of the Royal family, Atticus once again finds himself faceing the deadly assassin 'Drama' (Smoker).

Soon Atticus is left with some hard choices to make, and new levels of danger to face, comeimg not only from the bullets flying past his head, but also the threat of losing a part of himself.

Yet again Rucka keeps you empathising with every emotion, tasteing every scence, and feeling evry blow in a nail biting journey into a cold heart and a killers sights.
