3.0 out of 5 stars Missing that all important twist, 10 Mar 2008
This review is from: Flesh Tones (Paperback)
This is a very well written courtroom drama and a real page turner. The action switches between the lead character's trial for the murder of her lover and her back story as the reader is asked to decide whether the girl was capable of murdering her artist lover to save her father's gallery. The tension builds well to the verdict but then everything falls a bit flat. A key piece of missing evidence is found in the accused's flat which would have made the trial unnecessary. As well as leaving the reader with questions like 'why on earth didn't she turn her flat upside down to find the evidence earlier?' It also erases any concerns and questions you might have had about the lead character - leaving you feeling flat and a bit cheated.
