Product Description
Synopsis
War had come to Alona's home across the sea, across towns and forests, rivers and mountains. Now she is a stranger in her own country. Seperated from her family at the port, she is all alone. She has only one clue to help her find her family, but is it enough?
From the Author
Alona is on a quest to find her lost family.
What is it that young children long for, even more than owning a chocolate factory? They want to be with their parents! Alona and her family flee the war in their old home and land in an unfamiliar country. When Alona loses her family and finds herself on her own, she sets out to find them - not easy when she doesn't know where she is or where they are, and she doesn't speak the language and can't ask for help. But Alona has learnt to be resouceful during the war and her determination brings the story to a happy ending. This is a story for children of about seven to ten - an age when they are beginning to take on some of the responsibilities of looking after themselves. I hope that they will enjoy the imaginary experience of survival and quest, and I hope that 'Alona's Story' will give them some insight into how life must be for refugee children brought to a new country.
