5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book for children of all ages!, 16 Oct 2001
By A Customer
The second book in Enid Blyton's wonderful Malory Towers series, about life at a girls' boarding school in Cornwall.

Darrell and her friends are how settled at Malory Towers, and looking forward to their second year.

However, conflict arises when Darrell's best friend Sally is made head girl instead of Alicia, who was very much expecting this honour!

Darrel feels the pull between Sally, and the engaging but manipulative Alicia. Alicia holds the thrall of being the prankster, and the one Darrell had hoped to have as a best friend...

With all kinds of hilarities and upsets going on around them, the characters Darrell, Sally, Mary-Lou, Alicia and Gwen give us another delightful story - fun for girls of any school age!

This will be reread again and again!

4.0 out of 5 stars Mallory Towers has quite a few problems this term., 5 Nov 2000
By A Customer
A very exciting and action-packed full book in the series. Mary-lou has a tragic accident in which Daphne the heroine rescues her. Ellen (the new girl) has big problems trying to keep her place at Mallory Towers after winning a scholarship and she becomes seriously ill.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful, 27 Jan 2006
By Jasmine Guha "Jassa" (Austin, Texas USA) - See all my reviews
It has been a sheer delight to re-read this book again after nearly 20 years. I enjoyed reading about the exploits of teenage girls in an English boarding school back then immensely, and still feel the same today. They have a timeless appeal and I will introduce this and the other books in the series to my young daughter when she is old enough to read books. I am sure she will enjoy them too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Exciting story, but...
... I don't like it as much as the other books.

The only likable character in this book is Sally, Darrell's best friend, who is a really good head-girl. Read more
