This was an excellent little book, and was invaluable during our recent stay in Lille. I gave it to my husband for his birthday telling him that he would need it at the weekend as I was taking him to Lille.

Map came in VERY useful. Restaurant guide helpful as well.

Lille has actually changed in the pats five years, but this guidebook doesn't really reflect the buzz of the place. It feels like a guide to what Lille was rather than what it is now. But for people changing trains with a couple of hours to kill, I guess it does its job. You'll be able to work out what building is which and the name of the od tower or belfry. It lists the main sites to see. Lille is a marvellous place for restaurants, eccentric bars and hotels, odd shops and constantly changing boutiques. You'd not know that from this serial guidebook though. If your bookshop only stocks this guide, and since it is from a stable that also produces books to Paris, Rome, New York etc lost of shops will use this as their default Lille guide, then you have no choice. But on amazon or in a serious travel bookshop, then shop around and choose the right book for your kind of town.
