Using creativity as its starting point this fresh approach to training draws on sources as diverse as theatre, accelerated learning, sports, co-operative games and pychology. Whatever series of events make up a training programme, there is always scope for more excitement, fun and effectiveness - and as the author shows the abilty to improvise and go with the flow is crucial for success. 5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational Training, 25 May 2003
By Matt (London) - See all my reviews
An excellent guide to training for both the beginner and more experienced practitioner. I particularly liked the use of improvisational principles - freeing up both the trainer and his/her participants to concentrate on what matters: the learning.

It's an easy, humorous read, with lots of practical tips.

5.0 out of 5 stars Invaluable for anyone running a workshop, 24 Mar 2007
By Dr. D. Beasley (Bath, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I found this book was invaluable for helping me to plan my first series of workshops. The book covers just about every angle, including:
- writing an inspiring proposal,
- preparing the workshop environment,
- confidence,
- emotional involvement,
- keeping the training creative, vibrant, energetic, spontaneous,
- drawing resources from participants,
- endings.

It includes detailed descriptions of numerous workshop activities, which can be applied in many different situations. Its clear that these have been thoroughly tried and tested by the author, and what we have here is the result of many years of distilled wisdom. The book represents a vast store of knowledge, drawn from a wide range of disciplines.

This is an updated version of the author's earlier book, "Impro Learning".

The author's "58-1/2 ways to improvise in training" is great as a quick reference book, but The Inspirational Trainer has the real depth needed for a proper understanding and application.
