Friendship, fun and premeditated murderTruth or Dare was my first novel. I really enjoyed writing it. I quit the job I had been doing and got down to work - it took about four months to write and it has done really well. It's been sold abroad - translated into German, Dutch and French, as well as being developed for film, which is quite exciting.
Truth or Dare is the story of two girls who go after an IRA cell and they get them. I wanted to write an adventure story, a bit like traditional, James Bond adventures, but with a twist and that's the way that it's turned out, with a road trip all around Ireland and a lot of disguises and double dealing. I hope it's really readable - I think that telling the story in the first person is a great way to achieve that because a reader can feel that they know the characters very quickly.
Libby Lucas and her sidekick Becka are pretty sassy. They say things that you wish you could in real life, and they really stick up for each other. I suppose that they are fairly political, and I suppose there is a lot in the story which is about politics and about violence, but it doesn't read like that. It's just a story and that kind of carries you along.
