5.0 out of 5 stars Still an entertaining read, nearly 20 years later, 13 Dec 2001
By A Customer
When I first discovered 'The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole aged 13 and 3/4' I was around the same age as Adrian. I was so busy trying to identify with Adrian, I missed most of the humour.

Re-reading the first three Adrian Mole books in 'From Major to Minor' at the age of 32 has been a joy. I found them hilarious. Adrian is a neurotic, hypochondriac young man. He thinks himself an intellectual, though he's actually quite dim. He aims to be a great writer, but his writing (sampled in his diary) is very, very bad.

Adrian Mole's memoirs can be read and enjoyed by just about everyone. As a teenager, I identified with Adrian's 'no one understands my angst' attitude. As an adult I found his neuroses and misunderstandings highly amusing!

'From Minor to Major' takes Adrian from 13 to 23. Sue Townsend has created a realistic, three dimensional character. For all his faults, Adrian comes across as being real, and ultimately his heart is usually in the right place. I look forward to reading 'The Wilderness Years' and 'The Capuccino Years'.

I'm only 11. I read this book and couldn't put it down. The life of a teenage boy. Sue Townsend made it so realy even if she is a girl. Even though it is not modern like 1995 it is the best book i have read. I'm now buying Adrian Mole the wilderness years.

REad it!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have, 26 Dec 2000
By A Customer
This is The Bible for all Adrian's fans. Three books in one is as good as it gets. Something that everyone who enjoys a good laugh should read. I read the books in Slovene several times, but still was tempted to read an original and I loved it. Adrian's naivety (which seems more like stupidity at times), his (un)usual adolescent problems, Pandora, Dog, Bert Baxter, etc. are what make this book worth reading. Congratulations to the author! She made me believe that Adrian Mole truly exists. And this is what a good book is all about!
