When a top research institute is broken into and vandalized, the police believe that it is animal rights activists taking things a step too far. That is until they discover one of the institute's eminent scientists, Tim Devon, brutally murdered. A few of the dead scientists' research animals have also gone missing and top level authorities are strangely obsessed with hunting down and killing the purportedly harmless animals. Was the attack on Devon and the institute really the work of extremist activists or is something far more sinister going on? Encountering excessive security measures enforced by unknown authorities, Dunbar realises that those who might hold the keys to the mystery are not prepared to help him, and those who have unleashed it will stop at nothing to fulfil their apocalyptic ambitions. Alone in a race against unspeakable tragedy, the ex-Special Forces medic must imagine the unthinkable - and all he knows is that, when the storm breaks, it'll already be too late...


About the Author

Ken's done it again, he has written another BLOCKBUSTER of a book, that is very topical and very believable. Again Ken has mixed some current scientific facts with a pinch of imagination and come up with a great story that is gripping and fast moving. I highly recommend this book, and had recommended it to a good friend who works in the business of manufacturing bird flu vaccines, and he is now backtracking on Dr Dunbar's career so far.

So possible and close to reality this novel is thrilling, terrifying and disturbing! A fast-paced plot, full pf disturbing secrets and fascinating depth and darkness. A recommended read.

If you want to take an easy read for the beach/train/plane/ferry this is the book for you. You will be hard pressed to find a more eloquent and tailored prose making the book really easy to read and couple it with the thrilling plot, the pages almost turn themselves. It is a cracking thriller, the style reminds me of Alistair McLean and Freddy Forsyth. McClures plots are complicated and hinged on science and more often than not these events prove in reality to be quite credible. There is also an element of science based education carpeting the pages to keep you stimulated and plenty of clues and twists to feed the amateur detectives out there. Highly recommended.
