5.0 out of 5 stars gripping..., 17 Sep 2003
This book puts you in the socks of Detective Ramsay. This detective is called up for a standard murder enquiry. A body is found in a park, and from then on there are twists and turns.

Cleeves describes what is going through the detective's mind, whether its personal, about the job and task, or simply his arrogance towards other members of his crew.

The amazing thing is that struck me most is the ability to change the scene of the story many times per chapter. The story has many characters who are suspects, friends or detectives and they all do different things at the same times. The book takes you from one scene and place onto another. You will find out what happens to one and then it will move onto another person and you can see what happened to him at that same time.

In my opinion, the book is gripping in an obscure way when compared to what you think of it after reading a small amount. The scene changes and twists in the plot grip you to the book, and well, how has it had an impact on me? The answer is that I immediately went to get another Cleeves book!
