4.0 out of 5 stars This book is a must for every teacher!, 7 Jun 2001
By lfs2@cant.ac.uk (Canterbury) - See all my reviews
Nicnamed 'The Bible' at my University, this book has a comprehensive index and contents page. It also has a wonderful ability to link in with whatever assignment on education that you are set. It is jargon free, with subtitles and bullet points that let you gather information at a glance. The down side is that it is perhaps more geared towards secondary teaching rather than primary, nevertheless it is one of the only books that I won't be selling when I graduate.

4.0 out of 5 stars Essential book for essential teaching skills, 29 Mar 2004
By L F Snowball (Amstelveen Netherlands) - See all my reviews
.... I have found this book invaluable, both for new and trainee teachers in clearly outlining essential aspects of classroom practice, and for experienced teachers as a reminder of those essential aspects in an engaging and refreshing way.

I bought this book because it seemed like a good all-rounder, and was small (and therefor likely to be concise and easy to read). Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars A good source
This has been useful over the past year (PGDE(P), however the style does require some initial understanding of education theory and perserverance.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very poor - don't waste your money
This book is awful. I hardly found anything useful in it (it is also surprisingly thin). There are loads of better PGCE textbooks available.
