this book covers all subjects that an english teacher needs to teach. as well as all the current issues surrounding english in a modern primary school. yes it really does live up to its name, it is really practical!

As a trainee teacher in my final year, I have bought many many books to help me and I have that this is one of the two most useful books I have found. it covers every area of primary English teaching and has some really useful ideas. The other most useful book i have bought is Eve Bearne's Progress in English, this covers everything and could easily be split into many books as each section is so much in depth - an essential for English specialists, it even has an English co-ordinators section. It is a little bit pricey, but honestly, you could buy five books on teaching English and still have less content than this book gives you, every aspect of teaching English is covered in great detail.
