Product Description

The Shakespeare Made Easy series aims to take the fear out of Shakespeare. By having Shakespearean and Modern English facing each other, the pupils will find it easier to comprehend the text. Through discussion of the life, work and theatre of Shakespeare the pupils can gain a more rounded understanding of these classic works. This is a great resource for any classroom.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shakespeare Definitely Made Easy, 31 Oct 2009
I bought this for my daughter who is studying King Lear at A2 level. She loves it - by far the most helpful of all of the resources she is using, and invaluable to anyone studying this text.

4.0 out of 5 stars A signpost to the Master, 15 Jul 2009
Alan Durband's work has been to sign the way to Shakespeare - his "Made Easy" series is in no way designed to replace or substitute the Bard. Lear is, to my mind, the richest of all Shakespeare's plays with its tight sub-plot (Gloucester, Edmund and Edgar), and its curious themes (the nature of nothing, seeing, Authority and respect) etc. Alan Durband does a sterling job in helping those new to Shakespeare towards a richer experience. He provides the stabilisers for many a wobbly bike - enjoy the ride - it'll help you. Thank you Mr Durband about whom Sir Paul McCartney once wrote `He was the most important teacher of my school years.' Anyone who helps people to wards the infinite and rich text of Shakespeare is on the side of the good, the true and the beautiful!
