Amazon.co.uk Review

A beautifully presented boxed set of the first four volumes of the Harry Potter saga, this gift edition contains Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

A real treat for insatiable fans and collectors, these hardback editions have an ageless, classic look which means they could easily pass for volumes from the shelves of Hogwarts' school library itself! A gift to be treasured.

Product Description

"The world of Hogwarts is complete in every riotous, headlong detail. The richness and scale of Rowling's invention is exhilirating but the real proof of quality lies in J.K. Rowling's power to draw the reader into Harry's world and make it seem believable" - "Guardian". "The Harry Potter books are that rare thing, a series of stories adored by children and adults alike" - "Daily Telegraph". Have all the Harry Potter stories at your fingertips in this beautiful box set - perfect for indulgent dabbling in your favourite chapters, or for diving in at the start to immerse yourself in the world of Hogwarts.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally, an edition that almost does the books justice!, 2 Jul 2003
Obviously you've heard how fantastic Harry Potter is - and it is! The first two books are geared at younger readers but are still easy-reading and fun for adults, whereas Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire are much deeper and darker and can be read on so many levels that make this series as much an Adult read as a Child Read.

I have been looking for a decent hardback set for a while - and this is the only set that comes close. The four books come in different coloured hardbacks, the books are larger than the standard set and the type is also bigger. They come with a ribbon page marker each and a neat book-sleeve as all good quality books should!

I gave this product 4 stars because i believe they could have been better presented - the stories get 5 stars. The gold lining on the pages is quite naff and the hardback is a very odd material - ribbed like very small corrigated cardboard.

Overall, very good and finally a collection of Harry Potter to treasure that i would recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic, fought my kids to read them first, 1 Dec 2000
whithin a few pages of the first book i just knew i wouldn't be able to stop reading them. I bought all four books and read them within two weeks. I guess you could say I was hooked. Unfortunately i had bought them to read to my kids but when the lights went out and the kids went to sleep i just kept on reading. It is so nice to read books with children that are exciting and help work on a childs imagination instead of just plonking them infront of a television screen full of fighting and bad language. We can't wait for the film and hopefully Harry Potter V (pleaseeeeeeee)

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastically universal, chilling and enchanting pleasure, 15 Aug 2001
By A Customer
Nothing compares to these timeless reads which stimulate imaginations of all ages. Each book immediately captures the readers attention, including the reader in the world of wizardry. J K Rowlings realistic descriptions allow you to exactly visulise every character, beast and landmark so you can imagine yourself walking along side Harry and his friends in their world. These books have lasting effects on readers arousing questions about the world we live in. Everybodys views on reality will be confused. You'll feel all the characters emotions, events and tragedys within yourself so powerfully your body will shudder sending the hairs on the back of your neck to stand on end. These books are by far the best I have ever read, and this particular boxset is stunningly beautiful inside and out. J K Rowling is a fictional genius with an astounding capability to pen characters which have their own unique humour and characteristics, bringing them alive. All the story plots have surprising twists which makes you eger to read onwards, yet at the same time you'll not want the book to end. The books will be family favourites for generations.
