4.0 out of 5 stars to be read on a dark and stormy night when SOMEONE is home ., 24 Sep 1999
By bruce@angel-group.com (Louisville, KY, USA) - See all my reviews
Another masterpiece from the unrecognized master of the macabre. As the story opens a tormented and grief stricken husband trying to recover from the loss of his family is seeking solace in sleep.Outside the weather is freezing cold with a drizzling rain and yet he hears the familiar sound of the swing in the frontyard "squeak-squeak squeak" just like it used to when his adored wife used to swing. She is dead. The weather is not fit for man or BEAST to be out in it. As events in this small town become more macabre everything points to an old ship that sunk 200 years ago in the harbor. You won't believe what the ships hold HOLDS!!!!!
