Product Description
What's a successful single girl to do when a trip to LA with her new lover lands her the lead role as the "other" woman in another woman's relationship? Evie has some tough decisions to make about how committed she's prepared to be - or, for that matter, how single she wants to stay.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Bridget Jones on speed"? Hmmm..., 29 Nov 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: What's a Girl to Do? (Paperback)
Not too sure about the Bridget Jones comparison. O'Connell is compared in the front of the book to Kathy Lette, and I feel that's closer to the truth. I saw a lot of similarities between Maddy in Mad Cows and Evie in this book. Evie was fun, wisecracking, and crazy - just the kind of girl you would like for a best mate! And the situation she was in during this story was awful - imagine going on a romantic holiday with your lover, only to discover that his ex-wife and daughter (neither of which he ever mentioned) were part of the equation. And finding yourself falling hopelessly in lust with a lawyer you ran into at the airport . . . actually, that bit doesn't sound too bad! This book appeared to be a follow-up to one of o'connell's previous novels but it stood up well as a book on its own - i didn't feel like I needed to have read the previous book to know what was happening.Although I would really like to read it! There were parts of this book that were so hilarious that I couldn't stop the laughter, even when on the train. However, the one thing that ruined it for me was the ending . . . evie couldn't seem to make her mind up between the guys in her life and I couldn't help feeling that ultimately, she made the wrong choice. But I guess that's up to you to decide if you read it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolute trash, 13 Sep 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: What's a Girl to Do? (Paperback)
Junk, pure junk. How does stuff like this get published? Full of obscenity, dismal attempts at humour and constant sex-sex-sex. The author also seems to have a major hang-up about orgasms. Perhaps she should seek counselling. Unfortunately the lowest I can give this is one star, but it doesn't even deserve that. If ever there was a no-star book, this is it. Don't waste your money or your time.
