When the grave of King Arthur is discovered in the West Country, Nick Madrid and Bridget Frost can't resist going in search of Camelot themselves. From the Publisher

"Whacky, hilarious, a great read" Minette Walters
When the grave of the legendary King Arthur is discovered in the West Country, Nick Madrid and his trusty companion, Bridget Frost, the Bitch of the Broadsheets, can't resist going in search of Camelot themselves. But instead of chivalrous knights they find rival heritage industry marketing men willing to go to any lengths to make money from the discovery, Cue Camelot casinos, Avalon theme parks, medieval Excaliburger banquet and a frenzy of feuding archaeologists as the South West's tourism and heritage industry go loopy for Lancelot and co. Whe Nick does some digging of his own, it's not relics he finds but murder victims. Is there a Camelot-Crazy serial killer on the loose? And what about King Arthur himself, who promised to return if his country needed him? If the bones in the West Country grave are his, who's that bloke on the white horse riding out of the mists of time ..." --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Richly entertaining mystery, 1 May 2001
By A Customer
One reason I've become hooked on this series is that I'm a freelance journalist like its protagnist, Nick Madrid, and the fun of the job is learning new things about wildly different topics. Of all the books, this one probably conveys that the best because as it has Nick roped in to an Arthurian marketing project, the novel has every excuse to tease us with interesting facts without sounding as if the writer's just got an encyclopedia next to him. I liked the wry cynicism of Nick Madrid, too, because it is always tied to some failing of his that makes him tremendously likeable as well as quite smart. And Bridget deserves a spin-off TV series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wacky, engaging plot, 23 Nov 2000

This is the first Peter Guttridge book I've read and it certainly won't be the last. Superb main characters, fast-paced plot and some well-observed one liners. Loved the unusual mix of crime and comedy. An excellent read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clever plotting and very funny, 11 Nov 2000
By A Customer
This is very good, very readable. The story is intruiging - well plotted and fast moving - and there is a dark undercurrent that makes it more than 'just' a funny book. Some brilliant swipes at the heritage industry, and at Arthurian New Ageism - and sometimes just laugh-out-loud funny. Excellent.
