5.0 out of 5 stars This incredible man was full of self belief, 30 Sep 2003
By M. O'connor (Darlington United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
No matter who told Branson he couldn't do it, and how many times he was told, he never believed it himself. This book tells a wonderful, uplifting story about a man who believed anything was possible, how we would set himself up with the media to gain maximum publicity, and how much he valued his colleagues who helped build Virgin to where it is today. When reading the distateful (and that's putting it mildly) episode with BA I was absoloutely astonished at how low that airline would go to get rid and badname Virgin Atlantic, it really was an absoloute disgrace, and reading that alone would open anyones eyes. Without doubt a must read - you will love it...unless you are employed as a tabloid journalist when it probably won't interest you too much, because it's a true success story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring, 15 Aug 2001
By A Customer
Having just flown to New York with Mr. Branson's airline and heartily enjoyed the trip I thought I would find out more about the man. Like many people I had read many stories in newspapers which did not flatter Mr. Branson. It always struck me as sour grapes and another example of the sad way which we in Britain knock people who have built things and made some money in the process. This book was so refreshing because it rights the balance and shows how Mr. Branson became so successful because he has energy and great enthusiasm. No one ever gave him a handout and he never moaned when he had setbacks. He just got on with the job!

5.0 out of 5 stars gripping, 29 Aug 2000
By A Customer
Unlike many journalists Brown is not mesmerised by Branson's success and charm. He describes Branson's extraordinary career with humour and with obvious admiration but, to his great credit, Brown is not afraid to criticise and pose difficult questions. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand the man who is likely to take over the National lottery.
