Product Description

Product Description
On a year's sabbatical from her teaching job, Sophie Rivers is enjoying a stint as a volunteer for the Big Brum Bookfest - a new literary festival promising to cast Hay and Edinburgh into the shade. But someone is determined to sabotage the Bookfest. First it's the phone calls and letters threatening the festival's authors; then the Director succumbs to a mysterious illness; then, suddenly in charge of the project, Sophie herself becomes the victim of a vicious and terrifyingly knowledgeable stalker. Sophie never could resist a mystery and it's not long before she's calling on old friend Superintendent Chris Groom to find out as much as she can about the case. But when the stalker turns murderer it's clear she's in way over her head...

3.0 out of 5 stars A standard Sophie Rivers romp through death and destruction, 2 April 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Dying by the Book (Paperback)
Sophie has got out of William Murdoch College but not being one to sit still for long has volunteered to help out with The Big Brum Bookfest. Having read one or two previous books, the characters were all familiar. This is not one of Judith Cutler's best Sophie Rivers books but it was a good read and strung you along with enough possible suspects to make you want to keep reading.

2.0 out of 5 stars An interesting change, 15 Nov 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Dying by the Book (Paperback)
Judith Cutler's latest novel is a disapointment to say the least, and has taught me to indeed never judge a book by the cover. I took a chance on buying this book, and found it to be the biggest waste of money i've spent in ages. The plot lacks imagination and leaves the reader with no desire to turn the page other than to finish the book. The characters are two dimentional and unbelievable with no warmth and there is no hint to their realism. Possibly the worst thing about this book is it's conclusion, a total let down.
