Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Winner of the Kate Greenaway Medal and the Smarties Prize for Children's Books, Can't You Sleep, Little Bear? is a luscious-as-chocolate tale that should find a place on every pre-school bookshelf. While Big Bear tries to read his Bear Book, Little Bear tries to sleep, but can't. He's scared of the dark. So Big Bear keeps bringing him progressively bigger lanterns. But nothing seems to work, until he leads Little Bear out of the Bear Cave into the dark nights.

NB. There is some debate as to whether Little Bear was really trying very hard to get to sleep. Some of the illustrations seem to show him bouncing around rather a lot. You decide. (Ages 2-5) --Lisa Gee

A big book edition is also available.

Product Description

Little Bear can't sleep. He is frightened of the dark, even with the biggest lantern of them all at his bedside. But Big Bear finds an ingenious way to reassure him. So Big Bear takes him out and shows him the moon and the stars - and Little Bear then falls asleep.

My son is almost 2. We've just come through a rough patch of I-don't-wanna-go-to-sleep battles. Coincidentally I picked up this book which has helped. He settles, enjoys reading it, and has to have his Big Bear next to him.

Just a gem of a book for bedtime!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A modern day classic, 25 Feb 2006
Absolutely adorable. Perfect for any child, everyone can relate to being scared of the dark, and the feeling of comfort that the reassurance that a big cuddly bear can give! Incredibly endearing, one of those stories you can read over and over again to a child and never grow tired of it. Gorgeous illustrations really bring this magical story to life, a must for all young children and adults alike!
