This is a fairly large-sized quality picture book for 5-year-olds. The story is a familiar one but the setting is Texan. It's time for bed and Sheriff Pa tells Cowboy Baby to round up Texas Ted, Denver Dog and Hank the Horse and bring them safely home. Each page with its bold black writing and brightly coloured picture leads to a surprise on the next one as the little boy goes out into the desert to find his toys one by one. When he's found them it seems like a good idea to hide and this time it's Sheriff Pa's turn to find Cowboy Baby. As a reward for making it easy to find him Sheriff Pa lassos a twinkling star and makes his son his deputy.
