Product Description
Amazon.co.uk Review
Age 0-3

Bartholomew Bear is a beautifully observed toddler, suffering as he does all the tears, tantrums and joys of toddler-hood with gusto.

Get Into Bed! tells a story that parents everywhere will find all too familiar: it's time for bed, and the stubborn little bear is doing everything he possibly can to delay the inevitable. But George Bear is even more stubborn, and knows just how to handle the stroppy little'un, and before long the cantankerous Bartholomew is snuggling and huggling his way to slumber.

An absolute pleasure for all concerned, Get into Bed is a sturdy little board book that toddlers can manhandle to their heart's content, while parents can make their bedtime message through a lively, funny story --Susan Harrison. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Synopsis
The third tale in a series about toddlerhood, as lived by a charming baby bear. "On Your Potty!" dealt with toilet training,"Eat Your Dinner" dealt with mealtime discipline and this third story about little Bartholomew and his guardian George, "Get Into Bed", tackles the knotty problem of getting a lively youngster to go to sleep. Will Ba brush his teeth? Nah. Will he go to bed? Nah. He plays up, as children will do, until George bawls, "get into bed!". Bartholomew does, but soon he's giggling and wriggling, cuddling and snuggling, sighing and yawning and, finally, falling asleep. Virginia Miller, who also publishes under the name Virginia Austin, has also written "Squeak-a-lot", which was runner-up for the Mother Goose Award in 1991. She has since illustrated "Sailor Bear" and her own story "Say Please!", and two more stories about Bartholomew and George, "On Your Potty" and "Eat Your Dinner!"

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!, 2 May 2008
Bartholomew does not want to go to bed. Follow his guardian, George (who is probably his father) as he struggles and struggles to get him into bed and follow Bartholomew as he struggles and struggles to stay out of bed.

This book is super: the drawings are colourful and impressive; the writing is tremendously suitable for young children (aged around 2 to 6) and the plot is funny and exciting. It is an exceedingly exceptional hardback book.

I really, really, really enjoyed reading this book with my brother (who enjoyed it as well) and would positively rate it, for myself and on the behalf of my brother, a splendid 10/ 10.

4.0 out of 5 stars An good story for 2-3 year olds., 13 Aug 2001

I work with 2-3 year olds in a nursery, and they have all loved stories preceding this edition. This was no different. They laugh and shout as the story is read over and over again, a firm favourite.

5.0 out of 5 stars My 16 month old's favourite book!, 11 Jan 2001
By A Customer
I got this from the library because we have bedtime troubles in our house. Ruth loves it, we are now buying a copy, having renewed the library one twice over. The little captions on each page where the bear says "Nah" to each question 'George' (we substitute Daddy) asks, our 16 month old 'reads' when we point to. She loves this book because she can participate in the reading of it, and also, knowing that that image is the word "Nah" is the first step toward reading herself. We substitute Ruth's name for the bear Ba, because this book is really about every toddler everywhere getting ready for bed, I don't wanna go!!! I recommend this book to anyone with a toddler, it is simple, quick to read and a perfect one to end up your nightly bed time stories with. A great kick start to a bedtime routine if you don't have one, and a perfect addition if you do!

A wonderful story about a little bear who's vocabulary has not developed beyond 'Nah!' and who does not want to go to bed something mums and/or dads can ruefully relate to. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for toddlers
I think my little son loves George's 'big voice' just as much as Bartholomew's insistant 'Nah!'. This is his favourite book at the moment and he's all smiles as soon as we start... Read more
