The Lord of the Rings: War of the Ring is the first real-time strategy game for the PC set in J.R.R. Tolkein's Middle-earth world. The game features two single-player story-based campaigns. Gamers can choose to play as the heroic Free Peoples of Middle-earth or the diabolical Minions of Sauron as they dive into pivotal battles and events in the history of Middle-earth. The Free Peoples side includes Dwarves, Elves, and Humans, while the Minions of Sauron side includes Orcs, Goblins, and the Olog-Hai. The effects of good and evil are felt through changes in the terrain when the forces of the Free Peoples combat the corruption spread by Sauron's minions. The game also has spectacular weather and environmental effects. Wind sweeps across the grassy plains and storm clouds gather over the land, changing bright sunlight into rainstorms.
