Product Description

Product Description

Having escaped an unhappy arranged marriage, Zarleena Shankar is picking up the pieces of her life. With her successful Indian bridal wear shop, Bindis & Brides, she's proving herself an astute businesswoman. Someone who can stand on her own feet, and survive without a man. So when she meets Joel Winters in her local supermarket, Zarleena remains immune to the handsome playboy's charms. She doesn't need another man to wreck her life. And with his penchant for blue-eyed blondes, Joel seems blind to the sex appeal of dark-eyed Zarleena. But an unlikely friendship forms - and Zarleena certainly needs a friend when her predatory ex-husband turns up, intent on causing trouble. Together, Zarleena and Joel plan a spectacular revenge on the man who wants to bring her down. Will they succeed? Will the bullying Armin get his comeuppance? And will romance ever blossom between this mismatched pair of schemers?

About the Author

In her early thirties, Nisha Minhas lives in Milton Keynes with her partner and cats. A former employee of the Inland Revenue and an avid reader, Nisha couldn't find any novels that really appealed to her, a young woman born in the UK of Indian parents. So she bravely left her job, determined to write the book that she herself would love to read. The result was Nisha's first novel: the hilarious CHAPATTI OR CHIPS?

2.0 out of 5 stars Not sure?????, 8 Feb 2006
I have read all Nisha's previous novels and loved them. However, like one of the reviewers below I have to agree, it can get predictable.

I havent even finished reading the book but am finding it extremely difficult getting into it again. Unfortunately Nishas does seem to use the same formula for her novels and though these worked well for the first three, its definitely running out of steam - as is Bindis & Brides.

A definite edge or spice needs to be incorporated into her future books to keep readers wanting more. Its obvious Nishas has pure talent for creating fiction. Personally I feel she is giving us, the readers, what we want due to the success of her past books. However, all I can say is, Nishas, we were attracted to your novels in the first place because they were different and exciting and this is not the case for Bindis & Brides. Good luck on future ones though - i will definitely be checking them out.

Danny

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent read!, 31 May 2005
This book had me in stitches! I was disappointed when i finished the book! The story explores the issue of domestic violence. Very well written account of how british asians deal with complex issues and modern day society

1.0 out of 5 stars Not funny and boring
The book is boring and predictable. If you read other books by Minhas it would feel as if you already read this one, only it is worse. Read more
