4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining, enjoyable and just a bit raunchy, 21 Mar 2004
By Kay Hawthorne (South West England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Affinity Trap (Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed this one - a tempting mix of Sci Fi, adventure and love story.

Main character Delgado is quite a deep chappy with a lovely sense of humour, and he's having to re-think his approach to life in The Affinity Trap. After becoming addicted Lycern's to alien pheremones, he finds he doesn't want to hand her over to Earth's military, which is a bit awkward since they sent him to rescue her in the first place. Trouble is, if she doesn't go to Earth and marry Commander Supreme Myson, war will break out between Lycern's planet and Earth, and millions will die.

Sketchley has a nice flowing style and a good eye for description. There's stealth attacks and shoot 'em outs, plot twists and sex scenes, all packed between the covers of Affinity Trap. Which means there's something for everyone. I'm certainly glad I took the chance on this new author.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Affinity Trap, 12 Feb 2004
By Mr D J Bridges (Lee, North Devon United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Affinity Trap (Paperback)
I was not a great si-fi reader until I picked this up then could not put it down! I found it original in content with a good story line. Martin Sketchley has me wanting to come back for more. Bring on the next book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 16 Jun 2005
After reading the mostly favourable reviews, I found the book disappointing. To be fair, there are some good and interesting ideas, but the loose plot ends, cardboard characters and occasional sheer silliness put me off. The author has promise, but he plainly needs a good editor.
