Product Description

Product Description
Transporting us from the Blue Ridge Mountains in Southwest Virginia to the Italian Alps, New York City and the Tuscan countryside, Milk Glass Moon is the utterly enthralling story of a shifting mother daughter relationship. A daughter's first love, a mother's heartbreak, an enduring marriage facing its own ongoing challenges, and a community faced with seismic changes, all are deep at the heart of Adriana Trigiani's new novel. The third in her bestselling Big Stone Gap series, it continues the life story of Ave Maria as she faces the joys and demands of motherhood with her trademark humour and honesty. Reaching into the past to find answers to the present, Ave Maria is led to places she never dreamed she would go, and to people who enter her life and rock its foundation. MILK GLASS MOON is about the power of love and its abiding truth, and captures Trigiani at her most lyrical, affectionate and heartfelt.

5.0 out of 5 stars Southern Comfort Delights!, 3 Feb 2004
By "weebuns" - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
Genuinely warm and witty with an unforgettable cast of quirky characters, these internationally acclaimed novels, set in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, bring the idiosyncrasies of small-town America brilliantly to life.
‘Big Stone Gap’ is the story of a local pharmacist and self-confessed spinster Ave Maria Mulligan who has been keeping the townsfolk’s secrets for years. She is about to discover a scandal in her own family’s past that will blow the lid right off her quiet, uneventful life. Soon she’s juggling two marriage proposals and a family feud
‘Big Cherry Holler’ is the extraordinary sequel – eight years later, a deeply felt and brilliantly evoked story of two lovers who have lost their way struggling to find each other again. Ave’s past ghosts return to haunt her between the Appalachians of the Deep South and the Italian Alps. The third novel ‘Milk Glass Moon’ is about the power and truth of love, an enduring marriage, the joys and demands of motherhood, a daughter’s first love and a close-knit community faced with seismic changes. These highly original and hilariously funny novels are bursting with humour, honesty, drama and local colour.
Lovers of the book or film versions of ‘Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood’, ‘Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café’ and ‘Steel Magnolias’ will definitely adore these feel-good, wholesomely honest and beautifully observed southern comfort tales. Undoubtedly some of the best books I’ve read in a while!

5.0 out of 5 stars A comforting read, 26 Aug 2003
By Miss Judith Anderson (Dinas Powys United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
An excellent story of small town life with enough outside happenings to keep you enthralled. An easy read, but makes you think. Motherhood, illness and young love all brilliantly portrayed. A story of growing up, love and friendship. Not soppy stuff but good honest writing. Wonderful! True to life with circumstances that every one of us could find ourselves in.

5.0 out of 5 stars The third book in the trilogy - you will love them all, 8 April 2003
I read the first of the trilogy, Big Stone Gap on the Friday, on the Saturday I bought the second, Big Cherry Holler and on the Sunday, Milk Glass Moon. Suffice to say, I loved all three books. The story of town spinster Ave Maria Mulligan and "Jack Mac" is a winner - true to life in a small town and still totally enthralling.
