Review

Sunnydale's shores are invaded by an ancient demonic threat from beneath the waves. The Council of Watchers' immediate response is to kill the creatures - but Buffy the Vampire Slayer is sure that the Council is hiding something and refuses to co-operate.a further dark, hair-raising tale that marks the return of the fan-favourite rogue Slayer, Faith.

Product Description

The Watcher's Council will use whatever means it must in its never-ending efforts to combat evil...but what happens when the white hats themselves embrace the dark? When Sunnydale's shores are invaded by an ancient, demonic threat from beneath the waves, and its citizens begin to undergo a horrible transformation, the Council of Watchers' response is immediate -- and unequivocal. Kill the creatures. Kill them all. But there are mysteries upon mysteries here, and Buffy is sure that the Council is hiding something. When she refuses to cooperate, the Council turns its attention southward, to another Slayer who may be more willing to execute their plans. That the Watchers Council can be both pragmatic and ruthless is not in doubt. The "wetworks" team they despatched first to capture and later to kill the errant Faith provides ample proof of that. But the assassination squad that should have taken Faith out failed to complete their assignment, leaving the rouge Slayer alive and apparently repentant in a Los Angeles jail. Desperate times require desperate measures. But is it wise of the Council to try to use her now?

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing guide to an amazing series!, 13 Jan 2004
By Mr. AB Taylor (Leek, Staffordshire) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The first book covers the first two seasons, whilst the second book covers the next two (it's not hard maths!) Whilst the first book is a solid guide in itself (offering interviews with cast and behind the scenes folk, as well as episode synopses and little trivia tidbits), the second book is the real star here, by going into all of the previously mentioned in a completely exhaustive way, whilst also noting how continuing storylines develop and relate to past episodes. Especially concerning episodes such as 'Restless' (the excellent season 4 finale), the guides serve as a great way of enhancing the viewing experience by explaining things that you might not have noticed the first time, or didn't understand.

I really cannot hype these books enough - they're great to go back to again and again. Go buy! Now!

5.0 out of 5 stars A BRILLIANT COLLECTIVE TRILOGY!, 14 Oct 2001
By A Customer
When I found out that these superb books were coming out in a boxset I jumped in delight!

The writers wrote these books extremely well and it fits in perfectly with the programme itself. Not many trilogys increase in greatness but this one certainly does. The finale is worth waiting for!

I personally found the end hilarious with Cordy and Willow, and found that every character was dealt with well, including new guy Oz! The plots involving Gatekeepers and the Ghost Roads were well thought of, and were intrigueing.

Strongly recommended!
