Product Description

Product Description

The adrenaline-fuelled prequel to Liza Marklund's bestselling thriller THE BOMBER Eight years before the sensational events of THE BOMBER, fledgling reporter Annika Bengtzon has just started a summer job at a Swedish tabloid. Before she can even begin to get her bearings in the gritty, fast-paced world of journalism, Annika learns that the body of a young woman has been discovered - raped, murdered and abandoned in a cemetery. A powerful government minister emerges as the prime suspect, with the general election only a few weeks away. Fuelled by ambition, hampered by inexperience, Annika finds herself immersed in a steamy underworld of sex clubs, sinister power plays and a media feeding frenzy. This murder case could become Annika's breakthrough story - or the event that seals her doom.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hej hej hej!!!, 5 Feb 2005

I got given this book from my swedish boyfrined for christmas. My favourite author up until this point has been Jeffery Deaver ( and would recommend him to ANYONE!!) and had never heard of Liza before. I am very picky when it comes to thriller/crime books, hatin it when people write the usual who 'dunit' style with dramatic twist at the end that is predicted by the reader from page 3. However this book was very surprising. Writeen from different characters perspectives it keeps you going and is one of them books that you think about even when you arent reading it.
The ending starts off abit 'where the h*ll did that come from!!!' style, but is all made clear eventually. has definatley made me keen to read her others. The books are NOT in order though, and as far as i can see it goes, paradies, studio 69, the bomber, and then 2 more ive been told.
Read this book if your after a good interestig read. Not scary and not too over filled with facts and weird technology names. It would be worth your money i assure you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Adequate detective fiction, 28 April 2004
By Susie (London, UK) - See all my reviews
A satisfying read, though I found less sympathy for the protagonist, anambitious young journalist, than I often have with police-baseddetectives. The murder of a stripper has an unexpected impact on Swedishgovernmental practices. Annika's journalistic research leads her intopolitical scandal and illegal arms deals.
