Product Description

Product Description

Following the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Sarah Connor and her son, John, had thought they'd been able to alter the timeline so that neither the artificially intelligent satellite SkyNet nor its Terminator killing machines would ever be created. But if they were so successful, why, then, are they now being hunted by yet another Terminator that's traveled back in time to ensure that John never grows up to be the charismatic leader of the few humans who survived Judgment Day? Told from the perspective of John himself, this first volume of The John Connor Chronicles provides insight to the thoughts and fears of a teenager who already knows what Fate has in store for him-and the burdens he has to bear along the path he must travel to become humanity's future savior.

3.0 out of 5 stars Confusingly written - go for S.M. Stirlings first, 13 Jan 2003
By D. Hawkes "keeper_of_realms" (Southampton, UK) - See all my reviews

I'm going to say from the off, i'm only about half way through the book, and i wont spoil anything but so far, the script seems a lot less advanced than S.M. Stirlings, I've also found it to be far less engaging, that Infiltrator and Rising Storm. But so far the worst bit has been the confsing criss crossing between the two realities, the one that follows on from the film, which makes sense, but the other one known as "Skynets world" which gives an alternate plot from about half way through the film, but doesn't give a reason (at least not yet)

I'd say this is more for the hardcore Terminator fan, but I'd recommend getting S.M. Stirlings Iinfiltrator and Rising Storm before this, it's not a bad book, it's just outgunned by two superior novels that go from a different timeline.

2.0 out of 5 stars Terrible - Read S.M. Stirling's Terminator Trilogy Instead, 15 Sep 2005
By D. Phillips (Down, Northern Ireland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Like most people, I started reading this book because I thought It would be in the form of a 'sequel' to the previous films. that is only 50% true....let me explain. In short, this is two books in one. One story leads on from the end of Terminator 2 and another story changes everything about the film - the Connors and the T-800 don't bother to blow up Cyberdyne and just sit on their backsides and wait for Judgement Day. Even the story where it leads on from the end of the film isn't very good.

Overall the book rushes through the story at an unbelievable pace and leaves no room for character development. At some parts of the book, it decides to skip about 10 years and it gives you about half a page of what has happened during that time.

This book only gets 2 stars only because a very small portion of the book was deemed mildly exciting.

If you really want a proper sequel to Terminator 2 - read T2: Infiltrator, Rising Storm and The Future War by S.M. Stirling. These books explain everything and tie up all the loose ends that were left in the first two films. When you finish the last book, everything will become clear. I'll not give anything away but these books are set out the way we all wanted T3 to be - everything comes full circle - it will end the way it began............
